Meine Abgeordneten (My Members of Parliament) is an online database of publicly available information (“dossiers”). on Austrian politicians It lists their CVs, past and present jobs, engagements in companies and NGOs as well as memberships in various politically relevant organizations. The project also lists all parliamentary speeches and press releases, which can be tagged according to pre-defined political topics. By combining the information from the dossier with the actual political agenda of a politician, conclusions on possible conflicts of interest can be drawn.
Meine Abgeordneten came into being at the initiative of the president of the Respekt.net association, Martin Winkler. It is a platform for socio-political involvement that brings people with ideas together with potential supporters. With the project exchange, Respekt.net aims above all to help individual people and groups to find a lively forum for their commitment and to support projects with which citizens and organizations promote private, economic and public life.
The project is expandable in every direction. Currently it lists the members of the Austrian parliament, the Austrian MEPs and members of the Council of Ministers. The target audience of the project is primarily journalistic and academic, although it is already popular with the general public since its very successful launch in November 2011.
